C'mon, be honest - sometimes that thingamijig poking out of the trash catches your attention - what has someone thrown away? New York sanitation worker Nelson Molina was curious, too. Kids 8+ will learn this inspiring true story about how Nelson's curiosity and skillfulness led him to create the Treasures in the Trash Museum in NYC. Bring something from your home - perhaps a toy or memento that reminds you of a person or place - something that could be "thrown out" but is special to you or your family. Be prepared to share your story with the group - show-and-tell style - why it's a "treasure" to you and not "trash." We will also review the importance of reduce, reuse, recycle and make a simple upcycled craft.
