Recently named one of the New York Times’s 100 Best Books of the 21st Century, Persepolis is a powerful black and white graphic-style memoir in which Satrapi tells the coming-of-age story of her life in Tehran from ages six to fourteen, years that saw the overthrow of the Shah’s regime, the triumph of the Islamic Revolution, and the devastating effects of war with Iraq. The intelligent and outspoken only child of committed Marxists and the great-granddaughter of one of Iran’s last emperors, Marjane bears witness to a childhood uniquely entwined with the history of her country.

If you haven't yet read a graphic novel, now is the time to try this format! Please join us for an intimate and lively discussion of this acclaimed graphic memoir! Also, November happens to be Satrapi's birthday month!

Registration is encouraged but not required.
