This dynamic presentation by Dr. Christopher Kovacs will include stories of his underwater experiences, the role of science in scuba diving, the lessons learned during the completion of over 700+ lifetime dives, and an exciting discussion of the fun, excitement, and adventure that scuba diving brings to anyone willing to “take the plunge”. This presentation is suitable for adults, teens, and interested children ages 10+.

Dr. Christopher Kovacs has a Ph.D. in Exercise Science and has been a professor in the Department of Kinesiology at Western Illinois University for the past 16+years. His current academic research focuses on diving science and dive safety. Born and raised in Bethlehem, he started diving over 14 years ago and has completed over 700+ dives, including the Great Barrier Reef in Australia, the Caribbean, the Silfra Fissure in Iceland, and numerous other locations around the world and in the USA. He holds numerous certifications in both recreational and technical diving and is a passionate advocate for underwater exploration and the role that diving can play both recreationally and professionally for individuals of all ages.
